ive sold a tonne of vinyl over the last 6-12 months and put the extra cash toward my home deposit. alot of things i was sad to see go ive tried to get on CD if it was cheap enough. Got a couple rows of LPs left in my racks and thats it. _________________ -somewhere in time- |

Had to get rid of over 700 LPs last year, mainly to make room in the apt plus alot of it was stuff that hadn't aged too well over a decade's timespan. As far selling my entire collection, so far i've been extrordinarily lucky and it hasn't come to that....yet. _________________ "I can feel the AIDS in the air" --Voivod |

I've been contemplating on selling if not all but most of my collection. But breaking the chains of materialism is not so easy. _________________ Planet Earth is great to visit but you wouldn't want to live there |

| When selling ones vinyl collection make sure to rip the stuff to CD so you'll at least still have the music. At the end of the day that's all that really matters anyway. |

Another thing to consider is buying CD versions when you can. Chances are if i had to sell all my vinyl one day, i'll just buy CD's of everything. At $5-10 a CD vs. $20 a vinyl, once your done you'll still have the same music, and still be way ahead. |

A depressing and funny thread at the same time!
I think I MAY sell my records at 55 years of age.
Or at least a many of them. _________________ We Are Satan's Generation And We Don't Give A Fuck! |

Why that? Don't you think you'd be even more into that stuff as now?

I hope I never have to do this. Not that I have a huge collection but still. At one point I sold quite a lot of my Iron Maiden collection but that was mostly because I stopped collecting their stuff in order to have more money to spend on other bands as well. And no longer being interested in having a big collection of records from a single band. Still kept all the studio albums (CDs and vinyls) but got rid of pretty much all singles etc. Most of them went to a friend so it was a win-win situation. I got a decent amount of money and more space to my record shelves and he got a lot of Maiden stuff he wanted.
