It doesn't "piss me off" that some people prefer the second to the first, though I do find it odd. I've always thought of Last One on Earth as a lesser version of The Rack. Plus "The Rack" is basically THE best song ever. |

Asphyx's skills at arranging compositions and crafting intense masterpieces of metal just got better and better with each record, however the riffs on "The Rack" are some of the most iconic in death metal - so The Rack wins in that respect. It also has the most powerful atmosphere. _________________

Why so little love for Embrace The Death? Their darkest and gloomiest album. |

Toss up between Last Ones on Earth and The Rack for me.
Embrace the Death, On The Wings of Inferno, the demos/Ep and Death The Brutal Way are all great releases as well. |

I picked up Soulburn - Feeding on angels, this afternoon .
A bit different but actually i enjoy it and the Asphyx trademark is there, some "black metal melodies" here & there but not bad at all.
Any thoughts on that album ? |

Killer album and worthy of bearing the ASPHYX logo on the cover, pure ASPHYX feel all the way through, just listen hymn of the forsaken and tell me it is not . _________________ BLAZING OBSCURITY TAPE LABEL| http://blazingobscurity.blogspot.com/ |

The Rack!!!
First Asphyx i heard and still my favorite. It took me years to finally accept Last One on Earth as i've always felt it totally lacks the obscure and gloomy atmosphere of The Rack. Embrace the Death is also great for that specific matter.
I don't understand all the love the s/t gets. Sure, the guitar tone is there and some songs are awesome but man, those fuckin' vocals... |

Nothing wrong with The Rack. Solid, and i'm fine with it being a classic.
I do think that that tracks/style of Last One on Earth and Crush the Cenotaph EP flow a bit better though. _________________ "If noise means uncomfortable sound. Then pop is noise to me" - Masami Akita. |

I've said it before, but Last One on Earth is the best death metal album ever, so it wins. |
