In my honest opinion, Danzig is far superior to both Misfits and Samhain. (Nothing against them, though..) Danzig's debut and How the Gods Kill are pure masterpieces. |

Great songs, but 1000 Devils Reign is my favorite from that album. NetherBound is amazing too, if not my top favorite, among my top 2-3 selections along with Black Angel White Angel. Circle of Snakes is very underrated, possibly because of its raw nu-metalish sound, but imho it's quite easily his best album since Satan's Child, or even 4. _________________ Sic transit gloria mundi |

I was trying to limit to a few songs from each album - not easy! And yes, those are both great songs.
One other note: each Danzig album has it's own style and feel, and I would say if you like any of the songs I mentioned on a specific album, you'll probably like the entire album.
To change things up...my least favorite Danzig songs are:
--Girl (on Lucifuge)
--Bodies (on How the Gods Kill)
--Cantspeak (on 4p)
--Wicked Pussycat (on I Luciferi)
Wicked Pussycat is catchy as fuck and stays in your head forever, but lyrically it's pretty embarrassing! _________________ Evil Is As Evil Does... |

I never had a problem with lame lyrics. I can tell something similar about Cantspeak, although it is a favorite song and I like how it sounds both dark and radio friendly (that's quite an accomplishment).
One of my top favorite tracks is this one, I love both song and video.

I love The Misfits above them all. Danzig has some very cool songs on first 4 albums. Of Samhain I love the visual side and image. Music is the weakest for me, just can not get into it, even when some songs remind really Misfits and Danzig.
I discovered The Misfits too around 1988/89 with "Earth A.D." recording.... and re-discovered them in 1994 ( I found out that "London Dungeon" is Misfits track, I had this on tape since 1989, but did not know its Misfits). So in 1994 I re-discovered the band and their melodic period (1977-81). Since then I am totally obsessed with The Misfits. This coffin box set in 1996 was like a heaven sent! So it comes naturally that I have original "Beware" 12" EP and "3 Hits from Hell" 7" EP today.... _________________ TRADELIST:

Danzig era Misfits>Samhain>Danzig. I've only heard Danzig 1-4 and remember liking 2 and 4 best of them all, but that Lost Tracks of Danzig or whatever had some good stuff on it, too. _________________

Old Danzig is some of the most awesome shit. Totally raging man rock. It's weird when people say they don't like the Misfits. I guess some of their stuff is on the poppier side but you have to at least allow Earth AD. So sick.
side note: a friend of mine found a Samhain lp at Goodwill (not sure but I think it was Initium). It was in awful shape and he sold it for about $500 on ebay. Not sure if that says more about the demand for lp reissues or the guy who bought it on ebay. |

Always been a huge fan of all his projects until Danzig 5. That's where he lost me. I've tried every other album since and they just don't hit me like all the previous material.
Losing John Christ and Chuck B. was just a huge disappointment for me. The musicians he has used since Danzig 4 just have no emotion/passion in their playing when doing the older material.
I always thought Samhain sounded better live than in the studio. More powerful. Although the drums on "Initium" are super heavy.
I've been jammming this boot 7ep, "Last Gasp" and the live tracks are great. The vocals on "To Walk the Night" are amazing and even when Glenn is fucking up the words to "Bloodfeast" it still sounds good.

The Misfits did no wrong, imo. |

That doesn't even make sense. I bought the first press of Initium in VG+ condition for for less than $40 from a legitimate Misfits collector. That would have been about 7 or 8 years ago, but I refuse to believe the market's gone up THAT MUCH on Samhain records. That shit's out of print, but hardly rare. |
