Just saw on Deathrash Armageddon website
| Quote: | (Above is NOT real jacket design)
???? - ???? One-Sided 10'inch 2200 yenn
???? Deathrash Armageddon
DA13-333
I can unveil format(one-sided 10'inch vinyl), price (2200 yenn), and catalog number(DA13-333) for now.
All other infos are in secret until sold out.
But this is NOT "mysterious/secret" band, When all copies gone from label, I will unveil band name and other infos. |
cannot say that i was going to order it, but i got curious what kind of stuff it is? and did someone recognized band? or got some ideas... |

So anonymity is becoming a trend, bands without a name, releases without a name, festivals that won't tell you which bands will play there, etc. _________________ Pale Skin Shredded |

I fail to see how anonymity can be a trend. It's a response to the lack of privacy and expanding internet communication, if anything it's inevitable.
Still, a name of question marks is rather ridiculous, as is this game of 'guess who' to encourage a blind-buy on something which may or may not be entirely worthless. _________________ + EXITIVM PRODVCTIONS +

The release is Anthrax 'I'm the Man' (Evil D remixes). I thought this would have been fairly obvious. _________________

From some labels it would be easy to buy an "unknown album" due to fact that they have a very strict vision of what (kind of music) they release, but with Deathrash Armageddon it's not just certain style.
This differs from Ancient Rec. unknown LP as this one should be known band and after it's sold out, they'll tell what it was. Somewhat stupid, considering that now the real fans of the band (whatever it is), will most likely have to buy it for high price due the fact that this "unknown, limited, etc" will get Ebayers and other similar money-hungry players to get these instead of the people whom actually likes the band. But, maybe I'm wrong and the postages will keep some hoarders away. |

No it isn't. Anonymity has become a trend because people have used it to give their work more credence than they would otherwise achieve. I am not saying everyone does it but what I am saying is that some, perhaps even most, do it to try to reproduce "the mystical and mythical aura" of yesteryear.
If people didn't care about who's behind the music then many of the threads on this board wouldn't exist and stuff like the personal pages on Metal Archives wouldn't exist either. If you don't want people to know certain things about the project you do it by controlling the outgoing information, not by creating something "nameless that's not connected to the mundy world". _________________ There is a country called Tír na N Óg, which means the Country of the Young, for age and death have not found it; neither tears and loud laughter have gone near it. | Reverse psychology, old marketing gimmick. "We have awesome black metal fest next summer but you cant come there fuckface!" And its sold out. Or new Ancient records releases "Out now limited Untitled panties and trucker cap, DO NOT BUY these, we dont want your money, kill yourself and get aids!!" sold out in minutes. |

I have a lot of respect for DA, but this is ridiculous.
The postage is probably more than the album, and you do not even know what the album is?
Don't get me wrong, I pay ridiculous postage without complaint to get the albums which I want, but if you're buying it "blind" seems like a colossal waste because you have NO idea what it is.
It seems like this is made for record flippers only... _________________ WANTLIST:

It certainly seems like an effort to attract the record flippers, you're right. Everyone complains about the whole ebay kvlt phenomenon. But a label "trying to put a stop to it" by making records more obscure (and therefore way more attractive to the same assholes they complain about)...well this is either an example of a total failure of logic or an outright lie.
But oh well. _________________

Is that release available for wholesale? If not, I think that guy will be sitting on this release for a LONG time before it's sold out.
If this was available in the EU for a reasonable price, I'd might purchase it and see if I like it, but ordering it from Japan? No thanks. _________________
