For me this is one of the very few bands that blends Black Metal with Death Metal in a totally convincing way and as much as I love their old shit they seem to get better and better with age, refining and perfecting their sound. The vocals are some of the best I think you can find these days (Goatreich - fucking disgusting vocals!!) and the riffs and drum work are immense. And the sound engineering on their latter works is also outstanding.

Very few records make me want to fucking destroy everything in close proximity but these guys manage it.
Your thoughts? Favourite record of theirs? Plenty to choose from... For me it might be Infestus or Goatreich...

| Never really cared about this band after Bloodbath in paradise and The Last supper. Maybe I should give it one more try with the newer albums? |

Definitely. They are very well produced and sound much cleaner than their old shit but that is inevitable and don't let it put you off. Actually I think the production really helps to get their fucking massive sound and punchy drums out properly. They're a bit weak on their old records.
I'd say try Goatreich and turn it the fuck up to the top... It's worth it for the vocals alone if nothing else!

Terrible shit band.
Their early records got bashed in almost every zine (well deserved), then they somehow got a major-deal.
Extremely dumb persons as well, documented in various interviews. With titles like "Necrodaemon Terrorsathan" you seriously deserve a headshot. |

and their begins the problem. if you see them live youll realize that that whole huge soundwall and precise solo stuff is just fucking studio magic. i really like their albums and everything but it kind of feels like its loosing very much when you see them struggling to perform it in that way live..
favourite album for me is lucifer incestus. |

Bought The Last Supper when it came out, didn't think much of it and sold it for a bargain one year later. How this rather generic band became somehow big is beyond me.

Gave up on the band after Pestapokalypse, everything afterward is more or less the same formula as this album but with less reliance on melody.

They were one of my favorite bands until after Pestapokalypse, where they seemed to have peaked. I rarely listen to them now though.

Belphegor > Behemoth, but that's not saying much.
It's pretty lame that most newer albums have a token Rammstein ripoff track, but whatever keeps them selling albums I guess. |
