| The demo is absurdly distorted, but the music is still good. |

Slægt, you mean? While it is probably impossible for a black metal band to evade any influence from Darkthrone (and why wouldn't you want to sound like Darkthrone!) and while there in fact is a strong Darkthrone current in Slægt's sound, I would still not in any way describe them as Darkthrone worship - although there is an obvious truth in Grauballe Man's description of, e. g., "Det første efterår" as a coda to "Hans siste vinter", or the more melody-driven pieces of Darkthrone in general - yet, one could describe them as Ildjarn worship just as easily, and still not define their music sufficiently.
Slægt definitely strive for more of an upbeat, melodious ambiance overall, which sets them apart from their perceived and actual progenitors - seems to be a Danish thing to do. The melodies especially are what I find highly astounding for a newcomer band, it's simply a pleasure to listen to, and the songwriting is very dense (some traces of the more raw stylings of NWoBHM, even?).

Huh, got strong Panzerfaust vibes on first listen, maybe it's just me.
Anyways, wasn't meant as criticism -- the demo is fucking great.
Asrok, superfed demo, glæder mig til syvtommeren -- og endnu mere til pladen! |

Funny you mention this. Black Metal and NWOBHM is my thing, or to put it in other words, the only kinds of metal I really care about. |

| For those interested, it looks highly likely that the demo will be released on 7" by Tour de Garde |

Of course, the NWOBHM (or, probably more appropriately, traditional heavy metal) elements are only subdued, mere traces - if at all present; it could very well be simply imagined on my part. Certain parts of the songs, by way of arrangement of the instruments, as I deemed, draw from the NWOBHM style of heavy metal (however, don't take my word on it, my proficiency in this style is limited): an energetic, bouncy riff laid over a thumping, strong rhythm and bass-line.
Especially a part in "Det første efterår", from approx. 1:50 to 2:50 (referring to the YouTube clip for the sake of convenience), reminded me of classic heavy metal. But as I said, this could all be a total misconception born from ignorance on my part, so please do accept my apologies if I, well, fucked-up at listening to Slægt.

Good news, too! An opportunity to exchange my tape dub for the real deal, I hope this release will come to fruition. |

Last years demotape has now been re-released on 7" vinyl. 4 songs of bleak and Danish desolation. 300 copies. Contact Tour de Garde to order.
In other news, the full length album is slowly nearing the process of recording. Talks are being held with potential drummers. Stay tuned. |
