Incredible record.
As for Thin Lizzy I only have "Bad Reputation" and "Jailbreak" and to me there's a lot of filler on them, but the good songs are REALLLLLLLLLYYYYY good. |

Love this band. I probably play Bad Reputation the most these days though i am not sure why, I saw them about 10 years ago doing the first reunion shows with Sykes singing and was expecting it to be horrible, but he actually pulled it off quite well. They said a lot of stuff the whole show giving reverence to Phil and shot projections of him on screen. It was pretty tasteful, though after a while it felt like they were rubbing it in a little thick. Saw them again maybe 4 or 5 years ago and it was good too, but less focus on being a tribute to Phil. songs still came off great, I would go see em again, though having seen old footage of them live and comparing the two....well there is no comparison to Phils incredible charisma and presence. _________________ "...that magnificent deer has vanished." |

One of my top 5 fave groups ever. All it takes is the mere mention of them and I have to throw it on, then I end up going through a couple albums or more. Kinda like when you have one beer . . . I love it all too. Eric Bell is monstrous guitar player. Lots that early stuff only has one guitar track and he really holds it down.
i saw that deal with sykes too.
it really wasn't thin lizzy of course - the bass player looked like a WWF wrestler - but sykes sounded great, scott gorham was there for a little validity and Tommy Aldridge is fucking fun guy to watch on drums. by the end, i was floored. I mean it's rare to watch any band play 20 - plus perfect songs in a row.
i just got the Rockpalast DVD from 81 last night and it's really kinda slow, cuz Snowy White might was well be a corpse compared to Robbo and you can kinda tell Phil's worn out. Entertaining regardless. Gorham is really coked up and up and down off the drum riser the whole time and Downey is flawless as always.
I was at the DVD store to pick up the RUSH DVD (which is great). Someone needs to do a proper historical overview style doc of TL.
Ihslahm : ever see the tribute band "BREAKOUT" ?[/b]

Teeth: I remember BREAKOUT playing a couple of gigs and hearing great reviews. I think I skipped seeing them do some petty grudges with band members or something. I think the drummer was screwing my recently ex-gf at the time or something dumb.
Is that RUSH DVD you are talking about the same one that has some film footage of Geddy Lee telling his parents he can't go to college because he has to support his wife and kid playing rock music or something? My friend was just telling me about a vid he watched with some footage like that.
also, Midnight sucks. _________________ "...that magnificent deer has vanished." |

well, it's Alex Lifeson. Very bizarre scene. He's in high school, at the kitchen table, arguing with his folks, and someone is shooting it on 8mm. I mean, maybe they knew he was gonna be a star? Why do you film a family argument? The archival footage is fucking alarming. 8mm footage of RUSH with original drummer at a fucking high school talent show? unreal.
back (sac) on topic : anyone see the "Live and Dangerous" DVD ?
I might have to pick up that shitbird too
btw : this is new to me :
love the Jim Fitzgerald shiiiiiiit.
yo Naga, please come forth with more than just a floating Lynott head!
i know you can do it, fella! |

Up !
Listened lot of THIN LIZZY these days and the class of this band is measureless, especially Phil Lynott vocals...
My favourite is Johnny the Fox : all killers, no fillers and this GROOVE, argh....
Jailbreak is also immense ! The guitar solos on Cowboy Song...
I've bought Thunder & Lightning recently, seems to be a great record too ! Phil's voice is one more time totally beautiful ! What a singer !!!!
Always a pleasure to read comments on this cult band, so, please share your thoughts !!! |

If you're just getting into Thunder and Lightening, get the "Live/Life" double live album from the final tour. It has the best versions of those songs. _________________

I've been hooked on Lizzy ever since I bought a copy of Black Rose 2 years ago. A timeless band. Phil Lynott is a legend. |

I was in eighth grade when Phil died and I remember hearing about it on the news and just being fucking shattered. TL is one of the most incredible bands to every grace a stage and his presence is so criminally missed. _________________ ----------------
