I'm more of a DBTO fan but both albums i think we can agree, are timeless.

Last time I've been unemployed I was 21, but you're still a clueless mongrel who can't speak English.

I think that people are getting worked up over this without realizing that there's a difference between not enjoying something and not respecting it. I seriously dislike classic Burzum, it bores the shit out of me, yet despite my distaste for the early Burzum stuff, I respect the albums for being important and wouldn't ever argue that they don't deserve the status they've achieved. That isn't going to get me to buy them, play them, enjoy them, etc. however.

Taste is subjective, and can't really be argued, sometimes, people just don't like things...that doesn't mean that they can't appreciate them or respect them though.

But Question the fuck

What's annoying about these turds is that they seem to know every useless, minor garage band around yet ignore the classics of the genre and still act like they were some sort of authorities/scene leaders.

Fuck modern UG posers, there's more metal in one Manowar riff than in your whole collection of shitty rehearsal tapes from worthless German darkthrone clones.

I can't disagree with any of this.

Agree. Problem is kids work backward now and immediate start listen to obscure metal than old classics that every one knows. Because of mp3 and youtube is very easy to claim listen to most obscure bands. They want to look cool by having most obscure and underground stuffs, even if stuffs are actually usually a shit. Classic albums by bands that are wide known are not obscure or dark enough for these idiot.

This.

People can't see the difference between objective reality and taste. Speaking about movies, I'm not a big fan of Gone with the Wind (objectively a masterpiece) and I love Signs (which is basically a pile of trash) but I'd never be delusional to think that the latter is a better movie than GwtW or degrade the importance of Gone.. within the history of cinema. People have the right to listen to whatever crap they like but to say that Hell Awaits is made of filler songs is just objectively wrong.

That changes with time though. Once you realize most of your ultrakvlt rehearsal tapes sit around unplayed while your Fate and Slayer records get played all the time, it dawns on you that classics are classics for a reason.

Still, people developing their tastes in metal will get on some sort of high horse once in awhile and take the piss out of some of metal's sacred cows. It's no big deal, I did the same thing when I was younger. Fuck, I change my mind all the time about various releases and end up feeling like a moron for talking shit about them months before. Laughing

One of the best moments in my life was when I lightened up and starting realizing how awesome catchy, well written regular heavy metal could be.

NK7, did you just make a well thought out opinion and post it on this board? I'm genuinely impressed! Shocked

Mayhem - all except Live in Leipzig !!!
Never got into black metal's sacred cow ... Saw them live during their 25th anniversary tour - it was interesting in a performance art sort of way but still didn't change my mind ...
