Meh Nirvana 2002 isn't a mandatory band, good for what they are, but they get a lot of attention because of 1) their band name and 2) they're an "obscure Swedish gem!"
 |
I like Nirvana 2002 more than any of those other bands you mentioned. For what it's worth, fuck Entombed. Fuck you too |

Quote: | I was very late to Swans but have always been a big Godflesh fan so it was hilarious when I first heard Filth and realised how much Broadrick had ripped them off. I'd say the Filth/Cop era is my favourite but I have been cranking Children of God a bit of late. The new one The Seer is bloody excellent and I can't wait to see them in a few months with Neubauten, GY!BE and MBV |
Be prepared to feel totally and utterly raped. I saw them in Philly last month, and I've never heard anything as loud and powerful. I could feel the low end run up through my legs to my brain every time a bass string was slammed. They put most metal bands to shame as far as loudness and intensity. Oh, and half the band is 50+ years old. _________________ http://www.discogs.com/seller/lord_pazzuzu/profile |

The title of this thread describes how I often feel as I flick through threads on this board; I don't know about anyone else but there are only so many hours in a day when I can listen to music and only so many releases I can afford to buy, and there seems to be so much out there that's hyped up that I just miss.
With regard to the 'classic' metal bands like Maiden or Priest, I think that anyone who likes current metal should at least check these bands out... these are the bands who inspired whatever you do like, so the chances are that you'll like them too. However, you might not, which is not a crime. _________________ It's Eastmann time! |

I feel the same way.
I've never understood how so many people here seem to have listened to every single metal release since 1983. |

Noticed that I've skipped many US death metal bands that get praised here.
- Immolation
- Incantation
- Master
- Sadistic Intent
and others
Never liked traditional US way of doing death metal (fex Morbid Angel, Nile) so maybe thatswhy. Still I think that those I've skipped are more simplier/straightforward kinda stuff _________________ Mors fennico more |
