I have a hard time backtracking. For me, once I heard something that was really fast and heavy, I just wanted to go another step further and listen to something even faster and heavier. These days I have a hard time listening to anything that isn't borderline noise. If it isn't totally negative and noisy, I don't give a fuck at all.
There are exceptions of course, but the exceptions are almost never metal exceptions. I hate heavy metal for the most part. |
This is exactly why I loathe whoever got into metal after '93 and cant take them seriously. |
Judas Priest is fucking awesome, everyone's gotta take a break from their ultra limited demo/rehearsal tapes once in a while. |

Iron Maiden's the big one. I've only listened to a couple of their albums and it was years ago when i was just a little kid. At the time, the choice was Metallica or Iron Maiden, and Maiden just wasn't edgy/dark enough for me. Then Slayer quickly followed and it was all downhill from there.

Fucking this. Actually, I even thought METALLICA was pretty gay after just a few releases. SLAYER was really the only of the "four" that I really listened to.

I know what I like... I don't own any of these bands albums (aside from a re-issue copy of the first bathory album) and I have never heard anything from these bands that I have liked very much... I don't feel sorry for the apoplectic fits this will cause some people either...

Was I the only 10 year old who thought the name "megadeth" was fucking lame? I never even gave that band a fucking chance just based on the name...
I listened to one of their albums a few years ago and it was fucking shit. i think it was Peace Sells.
I was a fucking child prodigy...

Acid Bath, Eyehategod... it seems like most people have heard at least these two among others when it comes to sludge but I have no knowledge of the genre at all.

I've never checked out Isahans solo records or later Emperor although I keep meaning too.....

It's a bit sickening to know not caring for bands like Repugnant, Necros Christos, Revenge (or any other bands that gets hyped up the ass around here) would be considered more blasphemous than ignoring bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, or Slayer

Meh Nirvana 2002 isn't a mandatory band, good for what they are, but they get a lot of attention because of 1) their band name and 2) they're an "obscure Swedish gem!"
