Yeah, there's plenty of interviews from the time, where they mentioned having a deal with Embassy, who would release the debut album.
It was only later, after the album had been released, when they started complaining about the mistakes, lack of promotion & money. |
I do have the Embassy version, but the band after finding out that Embassy wasn't a real label to begin with (and also a ripof "label"), decided to discard that version as official. But it was the only available version at that time. _________________ Psicoterror'zine,

You do mix up something, do you? "Pentagram" was released by Philippe Galliano on his label Embassy in 1994, and that one was real enough for all that matters. Never heard of complaints about him, either (other than the usual Norgayian whining about "lack of promotion" and "lack of funds" and what-have-you once they became "popular" of sorts).
This fake label Embassy that released a number of LLN-bootlegs came into existence only after the 2000's; search the forum for this particular story if you did not know before... _________________ Solitary Elitism:

From the interview I did with Gerrit Weiher during early 1997:
Psicoterror: What happened with the relationship between Gorgoroth and Embassy prod?
Gerrit: Well, like from what I have heard Embassy has fucked up many things with Gorgoroth and in the end speak a lot of bad things about them. Also in their new lists. This is forgotten now. They have lost the rights of the album because they gave Wild Rags the permission to print it and that was just a rip off because they have not paid the band for it. So, now we have released it, and only our version is the official one. Every Gorgoroth bootleger will be executed, be sure.

| But in reality, the original version was not a bootleg, the band might later act like it is, because of the shitty acts done by the label, but record can't turn to bootleg later just because of that. |

Sure, what else would Gerrit be talking after he released his own version of "Pentagram"? It goes without saying that he wanted his version to look "official". Maybe it was, since the band asked him to release "Pentagram" again. But still, that doesn't make the first (Embassy) edition a "bootleg" in my book.

Of course not Phil Galliano, because he has vanished in the early 2000's for good. Last time I have heard from him in 1999 or 2000 when he went to Drakkar Productions for working with Cyril... if my memory does not fail me, that is. _________________ Solitary Elitism:

| There are 2 different Embassy versions, does this mean that one of them is a later boot? |

I'd say he made a 2nd edition after the first one sold out... _________________ Solitary Elitism:

As far as I know there are 3 different matrix codes :
DURECO TE 01
DOOM
GORGOROTH
The first press was limited to 1000 according to the flyer.
Is it POSSIBLE that the 3 different editions are legit ? |

I bought the Embassy Productions CD in early '95 through a French mailorder distro, I believe it's the first edition : the matrix is just "GORGOROTH", there's TE001 on spines and CDTE 001 inside the booklet (and also "Distributed by House Of Kicks, Plastic Head, etc." just above).
I also remember (few) advertisements by Embassy for this release at the time (especially one in a French 'zine, still in early '95).
There's some pictures of the Embassy 1994 version at Discogs. |
