Hi everyone. I've been lurking on this forum for quite a while but I've only registered on the board recently so I realize that this thread will come off as total shameless self promotion. I would like to apologize in advance.
Anyway, I'll go straight to the point :

Here’s my band “Chthe’ilist”. We just uploaded a track on soundcloud, the rest of the demo will be uploaded on our page soon. You can listen to the track here :

I wrote and recorded everything with the exception of the drums. The music and lyrics were written during the summer of 2010/winter 2011 and the demo was recorded a year ago.
I recorded all of the vocals too. Had no choice to record them myself because the former singer left before the recording sessions.
Our influences are pretty damn obvious since we’re not aiming for originality ; we draw influences from Finnish bands like Abhorrence, Rippikoulu, Demigod, Xysma, Agonized, Adramelech, Convulse, Privilege-Evil era Amorphis, Demilich (and plenty others), to North - American death/doom bands like Timeghoul, Incantation or The Chasm. |

| Excellent. C'est bien de voir un groupe d'ici qui joue pas du death technique ou du deathcore. |

Very nice piece. Eager to hear the rest of the demo. Vocals could've been higher on the mix, but that's not a big deal.
Pensez-vous faire des live? Je serais intéressé de jouer avec vous.

edit: just relistened to it: don't know why I wasn't hearing the vocals at first, perfect volume. must be fukked up |

@ Thoth : We're currently looking for a live singer as well as a 2nd guitarist and a bassist. I just can't sing and play guitar at the same time. This band is definitively meant to be a live band and not just a mere studio project. We'll probably play the songs off the demo and cover a couple of classic finnish death metal songs.
While we're on the subject, we were supposed to record a cover of Demilich's erecshyrinol (I tabbed about half of their songs on guitar pro) but we lacked $ and time. Too bad, but at least we'll play it live. What is the name of your band btw? |

The worst is the tech/deathcore, who do nothing but breakdown & putting as many notes in each riff possible. Anyway, great to hear that slowly bands are understanding the essence of Death Metal, especially in Montreal where the scene for such DM is very thin...
My band is Atonement (ex- down to ruins) - tu devrais me replacer. |

| Ah, oui, nos anciens groupes ont déjà joués ensemble au Saphir à Montréal et je t'avais d'ailleurs revu au lancement du 3e album de Vengeful (je fais d'ailleurs maintenant parti du groupe en passant). |

Superb, definitely has the Adramelech/Demilich vibe but doesn't sound derivative at all! _________________ www.contagionreleasing.com |
