It's in general not that easy being 100% authentic to your image when you're in a Metal band.
Some people laugh about Darken and his re-enactment pix, but how closer can you get in reality?
For Suicidal Black Metal, Dead was the first and most authentic. All others were rip-offs. |

I dislike most of what I have heard from this sub genre. I don't dislike it because it is depressive. I dislike it because most of it consists of shitty one-man bands, it is often very poorly produced, poorly written, and contains absolutely horrid vocals.
A couple songs (Or, parts of a couple songs) that I have written with my band have a bit of a melancholic feel to them, but they are far from "depressive." We even considered trying to take a depressive approach when we first formed, but the way we ended up writting just didn't work for that.
I do like a few bands of this sub genre, but I don't consider myself a "DSBM fan". That would be like calling someone who only likes Emperor a "fan of black metal".
But, to each their own.
