100% Agreed. A Highlight Band. Shit, they were damn Amazing on Stage.
Brutal and straight forward Swedish Death Metal.
All Bands played a Killer Show, not a single Band dissapointed me.
This was pure Death Metal Massacre the whole Night.
Seeing ASPHYX in a small location like this was a highlight in my Life.
No more words needed for Asphyx.

That was a memorable event to say the least...
I missed SLUGATHOR and TRIBULATION (not easy to find the venue by car when you come for the first time here !) but DEAD CONGREGATION quickly erased this slight disappointment with their brand of dark, morbid death metal; the sound wasn't the best but the experience of the members (Hail, Konstantin !) and Anastasis's charisma made the experience definitely satisfying.
DROWNED...or how to channel the darkest vibe of metal; Mors Dalos Ra, Tlmnn and Theby delivered a simple, honest performance but you could feel black energy filling the air, that was a dark seance for the soul...
NECROVATION ! Aaaaargh !!!! The highlight of the night in my humble opinion; a crushing wave of blistering riffs, zombified vocals, tormenting guitar chorus and pummeling coffincrushing drums ! I did not expect such an impressive gig from the Swedish horde, please somebody makes them begin an European crusade (not headlining but with a good live package), they deserve it !
Regarding ASPHYX, I won't tell more about them since I could not enter the room, it was overcrowded (it was all night long but even more when the Dutch masters began their set !), I watched them on the video screen before going upstairs again and managing to catch a few glimpses of the final songs played... The line up is as efficient as a war ensemble, Wannes definitely belongs to the band and he "brings it to the plate", a good choice for the set list, a rabid audience, what more can I say ?!
Hail to the few people met this night: Mors Dalos Ra (killer guy), Mister P. of SR productions / Temple of A. zine), Hacker (UT zine), Konstantin, Rodrigo (BH productions) among others...
and a huge "Danke schôn" to Patrick/Iron bonehead, you really put the bar high for 2008 death metal gigs and I can't see anyone going above it ! |

what a fucking killer night last saturday in Berlin!!!!One of the Best REAL Death Metal Ritual ever saw....
SLUGATHOR: Great performance expecially for singer & drummer...pity for the not good sound but this is the bad luck of the first band like always...
TRIBULATION: another killer performance for this young swedish band...they remind me a lot to the first 2 MERCILESS album on stage...i hope they do not end up like REPUGNANT...
DEAD CONGREGATION: absloutely killer...it seems like to be in hell during the show...the sound was fucking powerful & obscure...& the band attitude on stage was totally old school devotion...they remind me a lot the "Dawn of Possession" album.
DROWNED: another deadly strike during this live ritual...PURE UNHOLY DEATH METAL like it had to be done...they had also done an early TIAMAT cover but i don't remember what cause too much alcohol.
NECROVATION: KILLER KILLER KILLER DEATH METAL...the essence & the destructive death metal sound lost by REPUGNANT it's captured by this guys...i hope they do not end like REPUGNANT.
ASPYHX.....no need to say more...they are a FUCKING LEGEND IN WILD...THEY ARE DEATH METAL....impossibile to describe...
Tnx to Patrick to organized this unholy death metal show...i hope to see the "TRIUMPH OF DEATH II" next year!!!!

Too hot?? Hah, this was more like the antarctic shores this time around, compared to the "Nuclear Gathering..."! THAT was unbearable HOT!!

What a near perfect show:
SLUGATHOR: Nasty, Bolt thrower-esque death attack.
TRIBULATION: Well played traditional Swedeath. Really awesome band These guys need to put on a few kilos though 
DEAD CONGREGATION: Ugly, morbid and well-crafted death metal with excellent musicians. Drum sound was a bit dodgy but what the hell.
DROWNED : With Mors Dalos Ra doing vocals/bass, The Black shepherd on lead guitar and death metal monster Theby on drums- this set was a devouring experience! The two new songs were black gold- BEWARE!
NECROVATION: Never heard this band before, what a fucking gift from Satan! Violence the old way, with a good variation of speed and musicianship. Brought the LP immediately.
ASPHYX- No surprises here, just a metal jack hammer in the face. No songs off 'Wings of Inferno' though;(
Hails to Patrick for another memorable underground occasion and all the familiar ugly faces I saw again!
