Very rarely does the death of anyone effect me, but this one hit me hard. I was stunned when I read the news. For those who don't know, Chas. Balun was the editor of Deep Red Magazine and wrote a ton of books on horror/splatter films. Long before it was cool to and in vogue to say you liked Fulci, he was writing about his films. He also was an amazing artist. He's done art for Necrophagia, Impetigo and a lot of those Rotten Cotton t-shirts, were designed by him.

It was actually Chas Balun that inspired me to do a 'zine, not any Metal zine.

Don't know much about him, but I know in the late 80s/early 90s I used to read Deep Red (in the store though as I couldn't afford it!). Haha.

He did alternate covers of Impetigo's UMC, HOTZ, and he did the Faceless cover as well.

I posted this on my Facebook and a few other spots last week....for some reason I didnt think to do so on here.

Anyway, RIP to a legend.
He introduced me to TONS of great movies and his writing always made me laugh or nod in total agreement.
