It usually means CDR (i.e. silver on the top of the CD but blue on the bottom). _________________ Basar North America / Promethean Burn: http://www.thebasar.org/NorthAmerica |

I'm hardly ever surprised to hear an old band is getting back together. I am, however, saddened to hear that MH has reformed. Come-back albums always, always suck with few exceptions. |

ah yeah, and updated news from, Franta:
October 15, 2009:
Some bloggers around wonder why hit the studio after so many years and whether M. H. will play live? Instead of answering personally, I think this can be useful for many. We, old members of a non-existing band, are having meetings sometimes, mostly in pubs, and nowadays we have our own occupations for living. We've never earned money from music, and this is not likely to change even with the new album. Necrocock, Monster and me have their own one-man projects doing noise of our own taste. We are dependent only on the strength of inspiration, which can catch you and us equally without warning, and may result in creation. Let us be surprised. One thing needs to be said frankly: we're not at war with Osmose or with anybody. Yes, there are issues to make clear on both (or three) sides, but no reason for hassle. Anyone can reach me at stormtype(at)gmail.com, which is my valid address published for years on www.stormtype.com. Please only sane mails.
Concerts? According to our age and incompetence, we will never play live anymore.

October 14, 2009:
In answer to many rumours about the official release of our old demos, we are preparing their FREE download edition. All original mastertapes have been already meticulously cleaned in computer in the utmost intact shape, no additional filters and effect were applied. You'll encounter some noise on it, but including never heard rehearsals, and - quite strange sound of the very first gig of M. H. from 1989. Hi-res PDF's and Jpegs will be added. Don't buy bootlegs.
Franta.

dear friends, thank you very much for the warm acceptance of our studio comeback. As you probably suspect, there is quite a lot of work behind mixing consoles, keys, guitars and mics, so we're not able to answer your numerous e-mails at the moment. Please, hold on with your questions, interview and label offers, until we finish the work.
We love you!
The band. _________________ "...that magnificent deer has vanished." |

it was intended to be their official web site that would be autoironic with generally fun trivia about the band and it's metal past. |

ha ha, sorry, was being totally sarcastic... doesn't always translate so well into forums, but seldom does it come across in real life too, so.. _________________ Ashes to ashes

At least MH are still working with Yosuke and Osmose over the re-issues. Let's hope things are worked out at the end that will end with all three of them happy. _________________ Good traders/sellers: Yosuke of NWN! At the risk of potentially missing your point, the scenario is pretty simple. Bands sign contracts for a fixed amount of albums, time and so forth. They sign away publishing etc. They lose interest in their music or the music of that band and move on to something else.
The labels who invested their money, promotional resources and so forth sign bands for two reasons. 1. they believe in the band and 2. they hope to generate some sort of profit from that support. It's a pretty simple sort of exchange conceptually. Different these days, but prior to the mid 90's not just anyone was able to self release CDs/LPs let alone with the distribution strength of a label like Osmose who had considerably equity as a label, even at that time.
Unless that contract has expired, Osmose has the rights to continue pressing and distributing that music. Osmose also has the right to license it to third parties should the contract make provisions for that.
If bands sign these deals, they aren't being fucked over because that which they signed is being enacted. Time alone is not enough to void contractual obligations. Crying "bootleg" is just plain uncool.
And yes I played in a band. Yes we got screwed by some dishonest dealings, but also had some great label experiences also. I also worked for one of the bigger independents for 7 years and know that side of the business too.
We can sing about it being music all we want, but no-one forces a band to sign a deal. They do that of their own volition and for their own hopes of a positive result, be that tour support, promotion, advertising or as was so common the case, to get a vinyl pressing of one of your releases.
Not all this applies directly to MH naturally, but I think making blanket statements about people and their labels is poor, especially when such superb offerings are being provided. _________________ Ashes to ashes

As far as the rights to the master recordings for these records go, I wonder what the time frame was of which Osmose owned the rights. All of the deals I have ever signed was for either 2 or 5 year period, then the rights to that said recording came back to me regardless of whether all of the stock had been sold.
Those MH records came out in 1991 and 1992. Surely Osmose would not own the rights for that long... _________________ HOUR OF 13:

Quote: | Secondly, I am guessing NWN! got the permission from Osmose or whatnot, but the Band and Osmose don't see eye to eye, hence the Band calling this release a bootleg. |
