Once more just a curious wondering of mine.

Ok, need some help from you guys with an extensive Mercyful Fate collection. I've been told several times that the US release of "Melissa" on Megaforce from '83 was the very best sounding of all presses topped by the most neat layout. So can anyone confirm this from one's own experience? Is this just hearsay? And what are the major differences in the sound compared to let's say the Roadrunner Netherlands press, the easiest accessible one?

I used to have this vinyl, traded it away years ago though. But from what i can remeber the sound was really good. Don´t know if there was any major diffrences between the releases.

It is the highest quality pressing of this great album, it just sounds fuller than other vinyl pressings , more rounded and even , and definately displays all the evil highs and lows. I fucking hate cd's and have had many people tell me the cd version is better sounding until i cranked this record for them and they they knew what i was talking about

The same thing with Dark Angels Darkness Descends. The CD is fucking awful sounding while the vinyl´s really really great (soundwise, of course the music itself rules).

There are actually differences in the audio of the title track which are detailed here (around the middle of the interview):
