Just saw it for the first time, and what a great Movie!
The movie takes place in Medellin, Colombia which was one of the most dangerous cities in the world back in the 80's.
Rodrigo, the main character is just a thug living in the slum with the vision to start a punk band.
There is also a lot of references to metalheads and for example, Blasfemia playing live on a roof and the drummer of Parabellum teaching Rodrigo how to play the Drums.
The Soundtrack is based on Colombian Punk and primitive Deathrash from Medellin.

Gummo is not "really good". It's got a slight bit of bizarreness to it and a pretty metal soundtrack, but otherwise it's kinda trash.

Someone gave me the soundtrack of this which is cool if one is into exotic bands. Includes Blasfemia and the cult band agressor

There is a movie called City Of God playing in Rio De Janeiro, dealing with youth problems, drugs, police, and what not else. Got a couple of awards and prices. Rodrigo D. is the dirty little underground-filmed Colombian counterpart from 1990, which adds a deeper look into the Metal Punk scene as well. Worth watching.

The soundtrack has a different tracklisting when comparing the original LP with the Re-Release CD. One track missing, an other added additionally.

I like Profanacion most. Totally great track, and sadly their only recorded track it seems.

Picture taken from the booklet of the Rodrigo D. Re-Release CD (the Nekromantie page) as the LP doesn't offer any insert, sorry for the low quality, but gives an impression of one scene in the movie with the open air concert (and later some gals rehearsing in some shit room):

That's the charm about it; it's not about a plot, it's about the people. It reminds me of my town, maybe why I like Gummo so much. Razz
