Quick backstory, I was never into really early thrash until recently. I didn't care for the speed metal/NWOBHM stuff. But I have gotten over that. The last big thrash debut I need to pick up is Megadeth's. I'm probably just going to get it on CD.

I know there are several variations: the original pressing with "These Boots" on it; the subsequent pressing without "These Boots"; a reissue by Century Media I think; and the 2002 remaster with a censored "These Boots" added back to it.

I understand that most people here would recommend the original if possible. But it seems to be hard to come by. So:

1. does the reissue (Century Media or whoever did it) sound better or different from the original version?

2. How's the remaster? I steered clear of the remasters of the other albums out of fear of major changes and re-recorded parts. I am not opposed to cleaning up the sound by itself, though, so I was wondering about this one. A few people have told me it's the most tolerable remaster of the series. Is much changed other than the general sound?

3. Any idea where I could track down the original 1st pressing?

The CD I have is the one with the censored These Boots (Loud Records?), it's annoying but I don't like that song anyway, or any cover that Megadeth did. Sound is probably as good as its gonna get.

Killing... was remixed/mastered before all the other ones were ever planned to be done, so it was approached with a completely different mentality. I have the remix and I think it sounds good. I used to have the original CD and didn't care for the sound on it from what I remember, but I also have the original LP which I think sounds good.

Original CD versions with "These Boots" aren't too hard to find. The vinyl will come up, too. I have it on tape, since it was $0.30. So all told the original version can be had pretty easily, it seems.

I have a CD copy without "These Boots" that has become redundant for me since getting that tape. It's available for trade.
