Anything in the Virginia/DC area for good record hunting? I am going to be in the area but kind of busy so I can't really travel TOO far outside this area, but I wouldn't mind a vinyl hunt...any help is greatly appreciated.

I used to live in NOVA. That area is a deadzone for record shopping. There is a store called Smash in Georgetown but it's mostly punk/hardcore records.

Hmm...I may have to check that out anyway, depending on what I run across I am always in the market for some killer old punk/HC stuff. I've heard from friends in the area that I won't have much luck with death and black metal vinyl around there though.

Spending half my trip in DC and the other half in Charlottesville, with travel time between the two...

I'm not sure if it's still there but there was a Record and Tape Exchange in Fairfax VA that had a metal vinyl/CD section.

The original Smash in Georgetown closed. Some kids bought the name and remaining stock and reopened it in Adams Morgan. There are a couple of other used record shops around there.
Check out the Vienna Music Exchange in Virginia . It's owned by the guy who runs Maniacal Records and is full of metal. http://www.myspace.com/viennamusicexchange

It's still there, but not really worth the trip unless you're going out to the Vienna store I mentioned above.
It's a deadzone now, but the DC area was second only to NYC for record shopping in the '80s.

Yeah, the record and tape exchange is still around. You can usually find something, not many metal vinyls but I try to keep some decent stuff stocked in the CDs.

I would second the recommendation to check out the Vienna Music Exchange.

Back in the 80s, there was a place called PENGUIN FEATHER that had ton's of rare ass import & indie Metal....
Got that JAG PANZER there, QUEENSRYCHE on 206 Records, CIRITH UNGOL, August Redmoon, LOUDNESS imports, TAKASHI, lotsa picture discs, all kinds of import shit.... METAL FORCES & KERRANG Mags....etc...

Also when I used to jam with the early version of INDESTROY, Drew Adrian took me to a really cool place in Rockville - MD... but I can't remember the name after 25 years....

Plus all the mall stores used to have pretty big metal sections with imports...

The glory days of Metal 1977 to 1989...

Yeah, I grew up down there.
You weren't kidding about even shopping mall stores having good imports back then. You'd even see stuff like Noise picture discs at Record Worlds. Penguin Feather was a good chain. I saw Greg Ginn's band, Gone, play at one.
