Re-listening to ‘Storm’ by Panphage this morning and that incredible tremolo picked riff that kicks in at around 3:16 after the ‘quiet interlude / folk drums’ break is so glorious and evocative but lasts no time at all. Could listen to it for another 10 minutes and never get bored.

Other examples of riffs like this??

Fucking opening riff to Earth a Raging Blaze!!! Best riff Craft ever wrote and it goes away after the first 15 seconds of the song.

Not that there aren't tons of other great ones on that album but still. Dammit!

Also agree that riff in Storm is a real knee/chin vaporizer.

The greatest riff that there ever was on Can't you Hear me Knocking by the Rolling Stones ( Mick Taylor ). Change my mind or fight me.
In the spirit of this thread, the opening riff of Gimme Shelter can fucking infinite loop forever until we do this all again little Prince.

I don't know that it really fits this thread as I consider it a perfect riff, but I could listen to the main riff of Shemhamforash on repeat forever.

Any Gelal riff. The riff on Immaculate Latrine makes my dick hard.

The riff which appears only twice, just before the acoustic part in Varathron's Theilaxu (The unborn child). So quickly over but so great ...

Seconding this. However, I want to go also with "The Number of the Word", and the opening riff that kind of meanders so perfectly.

I always felt this way about the first 21 seconds of Black Sabbath's Wheel of Confusion.

It's funny you mention that because I was going to say that the end of "Under the Sun" could go on for another 20 minutes and I'd love every second of it.

The last riff of Behexen's "Born in the Serpent of the Abyss". Although, perhaps its brevity is what makes it stick out to me; doesnt stay around and linger too long.
