Voted for Iron Maiden. I am a casual fan on Judas Priest but Iron Maiden is where my heart lays in regards to heavy metal, save Black Sabbath.

Went with Priest because their 70's stuff is the greatest heavy metal ever recorded. That being said, from about 1980 onwards it's not even a contest, Maiden all the way.

Another useless poll...

... yet I must choose Iron Maiden. It's true that they might have inspired the corniest face of metal and virgin kiddos with pimples wearing Eddie shirts are a must. Also Judas were delivering the goods and creating an entire genre when Maiden were still shitting on their pants, and nothing more blasphemous than a faggot, a pedophile and the best band moniker one could use. But it's the entire discography what counts to me: no filler, (almost) all killer, and when I saw Iron Maiden for the upteenth time this year I was forced once again to BELIEVE, in Savatage words. This year I've been listening regularly to both Blaze albums with fervour whereas the Ripper albums don't mean nothing to me ("Cathedral of Spires" and not much more), and the post-reunion material is all CLASSIC to my ears as I've mentioned sometimes - Judas' Retribution and Firepower hold a couple or three classic anthems and that's all.

Also I've to say the Di Anno era is my favourite music of ALL TIME for many, many reasons, the only stuff that may rank higher than Celtic Frost in my book, so there you have. Favourite singer (Bon Scott may come close) and best album productions, cover arts and whatnot (for fuck's sake, just take a look to "Sanctuary" and "Running Free" cover sleeves, pure metal mania...).

Anyway, JP's early 70's charming phase rests untouchable on its own league, and later albums too with some of the best and underrated jewels that may not be sounding on your average rock radio but always manage to lift me up on troubled times.

Why useless? As far as I know, polls are meant to show balanced results, otherwise there's no point in creating one.

Priest, Maiden, and Sabbath are the 3 barometers I use when talking about music with people. If we can't agree on these three your opinions on music just can't be trusted.

That being said definitely Judas Priest. Sorry folks it's a fact: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whZuz5Dwtw8#t=5m17s

For me the holy grail is Sabbath, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest & Slayer

The DiAnno era and it's working class punkishness & the epic songwriting on the Dickinson albums pushes Iron Maiden slightly above Judas Priest. I also grew up listening to Maiden, so that pretty much cements it for me.

Motorhead is the only legacy band I know of that has managed the incredible & impossible feat of releasing recent albums (such as Inferno) on par with albums from their classic era though, demonstrating that sobriety is often a bad thing for artistry. Kudos to Lemmy for not mellowing out like the others.

If I was held at gunpoint and had to pick I think I'd say Judas Priest. I am like many others and can barely separate the two.

How oddly accurate. I guess the fast Maiden songs and Dickinsons vocals are just to much for them.

Judging a band by its fans is not a smart move if you're trying to make a case for Iron Maiden of all bands.

I love the two bands, but only for Killers (which is my favourite Maiden album) I choose Iron Maiden.
