In over 12 years of the NWN! Forum's existance, there has been no general Mayhem poll created, so, about time for a poll/worship thread dedicated to the AC/DC of Black Metal.

Take an iPhone selfie on the mirror with your brand-new Deathcrush Tank Top™ with the bonus Inverted Cross Necklace™ and Limited-Edition EuroDead Black Lipstick™, and post it to your XxXBlackMetalGurl666XxX fangroup together with your daily stock image freezing moon poetic tributes to Dead and Euro.

Discuss, post rare photos/videos/stories/questions/scans/merch and the like, in order to achieve the complete Dehipsterization of TTM.

However, given that this is the most basic of the basics BM band to ever exist, it is no secret that they have been discussed to death on every single Metal/Music in general website on the internet.

So to begin, here are some other informative threads on the band, like the best band poll list, you can keep adding more Mayhem-related useful links in here for it to be updated, let us try to create a Mayhem information list of the sorts.

I cannot guess which album will win this poll.

Voted for the obvious, 'De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas'.

Indeed obvious that it will always win, but still wondering if some people prefer other releases.

I cannot seem to find the Out From the Dark remaster by AOD, if anyone has a link to the thread, I would appreciate it.

DMDS!
But i don't wanne feed.

DEATHCRUSH
For the best introduction in extreme music. Conrad Schnitzler during his last years was very proud that Silvester Anfang appeared on it.

De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is the obvious choice, but the album that reinvented Mayhem for me was Grand Declaration of War. "In the Lies Where upon You Lay", in particular, gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. I can't say that about any other Mayhem song. The lyrics of that song, to me, encapsulate the essence of what black metal should be about.

Voted for DMDS.

It still amazes me how much the band changed from the late 80s to the mid-90s. They went from making what in my book is a low budget joke demo/mini-lp with risible playing technique and lyrics so retarded they can turn you into an autistic in a matter of seconds up to making the most evil-sounding yet beautiful album of Black Metal. Ok, Euronymous wasn't really the best guitar player of that time's scene and his playing is indeed affected by some sloppy interludes even on the studio version of DMDS, but his riffs were just masterfully crafted. That 7 years long gap has really paid off.

Voted Chimera, just because is the Mayhem album I've been listening the most lately. DMDS should win this with no contest.

Please explain why the lack of existence of a poll is reason enough to start a poll?

I feel like Chimera is overlooked by a mile. Some of their best work IMO. Obviously nothing can live up to DMDS, but Chimera is excellent.
