Why would it be "Norse" if the term is describing mostly (if not all) Swedish bands?

Generic catch-all term for Scandinavian, not Norwegian, maybe?

Norsemen was a common name for the Scandinavians when they spoke the Old Norse language.

My point being that it's a bad term because it does not distinguish the style as "Swedish" which is the common characteristic.

The more I think about the term, the further it misleads me.

Not much love for The Abyss it seems, but I highly recommend people checking them out. Summon the Best is every bit as good as any of Marduk's albums with Legion.

Quite the contrary; I do enjoy The Abyss and I do see them as being quite underrated although they did not end up being my first pick. My personal favorite release by them is by far "The Other Side".

I liked the first Abyss Album very much, just like first Setherial, no blastbeat-all-the-way-bullshit there. It's a fine album. I never cared about the second one. Seems like I didn't miss out on anything.

To each their own, but I think Summon the Beast slays the rather toothless debut. Just listen to the grinding majesty of Damned.

Agreed, and more intense than those Marduk albums.

It’s indeed a good album and Legion’s best performance.

I love that Algaion EP but I never considered it to be even remotely Norsecore. The epitome of this style in my mind is that Dark Funeral album.
