This release seems to have been designed specifically to make me not want to buy it. Mediocre metal, the ever growing percentage of instrumental noodling, and the pointlessly excessive packaging and price...man.

^ My thoughts exactly, pointless gimmicky release. I'm sure "this record will look great on instagram" brigade will lap it up though, chumps love a box set...

I guess I'm in the minority then, I really like how fresh these new songs sound, considering that NC is one of those bands who've essentially been playing the same thing since they came into existence.

But then, I enjoy Nine Graves a lot too.

Ugh, this sounds like something Immolation would release nowadays...

They were always a concept band, they planned a finite number of albums from the start. Each album was a new chapter... and this is the finale. Some of you act like they have just been pumping out albums and then have decided its time to quit all of a sudden.

I never cared for this band, everything leading up to the debut was mildly interesting, easy-listening DM to do weekend chores to. But it is sure to get you tons of likes and 'this looks sick, dude' on Instagram from kids in their early twenties with more Revenge than Judas Priest records.

^While the above statement is obviously rather clueless and retarded, it is true that the morbid atmosphere of Grave Damnation EP (one of my faves) is gone.
TIR was the album containing their simplistic/ritualistic catchy offerings, DotO showcased more detailed songwriting with somewhat of an early 90s DM vibe and now the third and final album finalizes this development, parts touch old Floridia DM territority. Doom... already had some early Nocturnus or Equinox vibes and this seems to be even more pronounced with the new one.

The re-recorded tracks on Nine Graves are superfluous but I do like the new compositions.

3xLPs might be 4 too many in 2018 Shocked just kidding, sounds pretty decent but anyone spending $60 on this is a psycho.

I'm not liking the looks of this album. The first song was nothing special, the second song is worse. About 113 minutes will be far too long.
Hell, I wouldn't make it to the end if this was 30 minutes long.

Found this from an interview conducted in 2012. I've yet to hear the whole album, but I love NC and I think these sample tracks are sounding great. This kind of reaffirms my belief that these guys are way smarter than most of us.

Quote:
As all of you might know by now, it shall indeed be the last album of Christos Necros. And I really want to have kind of a controversy to fade from the scene. Some people shall say, ‘yes, it is the final album because what could come afterwards?’. The rest might say things like, ‘well, finally, it is the last album and may we thank God for it, as it is so fucking strange and different from the beginning that the end was unavoidable’.
‘Domedon Doxomedon’ is a Coptic/Greek term meaning lord of the house, lord of glory. It represents an aeon of the Supreme One to come, so let me quote: ‘Domedon Doxomedon appeared, the eternal realm of eternal realms, with thrones in it, powers around it, and glories and incorruptions (The Holy Book of the Great Invisible Spirit, Nag Hammadi Codices III, 2; IV, 2)’. The whole text is inappropriately called Gospel of the Egyptians since the late 1940s and unfortunately, a lot of translations bear this strange name. But the record in itself is shaping more and more; I’ve approximately 70 percent of the metal songs written and more than a bunch of ideas for all the temples and gates. It will be our magnum opus nonetheless, featuring nine temples, nine songs and nine gates.

+ 2

Even if I am going to hate it (I doubt I will 100% hate the new album) I cannot wait to receive my LP box from Van Records.
