Acherontas V.Priest was one of the first persons that agreed to get interviewed by us for our first issue more than ten years back... After the decade, the cycle returns back. Today Acherontas is one of the leading BM acts of Greece. Therefore, long and interesting discussion on the concept of time, offspring, occult and death, clear mind, etc.

"The past is ever present, defines us and fills us with valuable memories. Time is never an enemy, it is a lesson, we learn, we evolve and we go further. We never regret the past, rather we use the experience gained to plan the future and live in here and now. Nostalgia is usually a positive feeling when remembering the glorious times, but not when you get stuck there and destroy the present".

With the debut album "Illusions of Eternity" out through "Drakkar Productions", Sisyphean become one of the strongest powers in Lithuanian Black Metal. And I'm not kidding here. Another trendy Occult Death/Black Metal act? Quite the opposite, actually...

"We do not contemplate on pseudo-intellectual dogmas born from someone else’s works. The lyrical content could seem “occult” or “mystic” at times, but it’s mostly metaphors, thus the true ideas are between the lines or in the general picture.

We grew tired of going after all those past concepts and understood that we really did not want to follow the path of the modern herds full of bullshit. There are plenty of bands nowadays dealing with topics that they don’t understand the faintest fuck about. It is easy to promulgate chaos, lawfulness, and anarchy, but I really wonder how many of them would be willing to give up the comfort of sitting their asses off in their offices or giving up their nice, lofty apartments. Music has to be empowered firstly from what goes out of your heart; concepts, aesthetics, and themes go only after that. You can play flamenco or salsa music to people and if it means something to you, if it radiates itself to others, then that is all what matters. For an artist, it’s important to go after something that they actually feel; otherwise, it’s a meaningless mediocrity and just another release for the sake of it just being another release. In our mind, music was never something of an academic analysis, but rather a gut-feeling process. Therefore, the least likely thing we are going to do is going after are all those “occult”, “satanic”, “mystic” topics because they have no part in our minds currently.

The earthly and the spiritual play almost an equal part in the album and in our ideas, but what is spiritual to us might be the opposite for someone else. Spirituality and how people understand it is quite an abstract topic in today’s society to say the least. Every one of us understands and interprets it quite differently and it does not matter if we are taking this to the macro or micro level of measurement. It is still going to be a very subjective topic".

Harvest Gulgaltha from Phoenix, Arizona, debuted with their full-length "Altars of Devotion" last year through "Nuclear War Now! Productions". For us it’s one of the best Black/Death releases recently. For those wondering, the title of the band stands for “place of skulls” or “cemetery” in Arabic; still - the band hides under the thick skin of darkness and mystery: no interviews, no sharing of brief information, particular ideas, thoughts, etc. Even getting in contact was as hard as possible. However, we still managed to get the access to some of the secrets they're standing for. That's not your another in-depth interview, no, rather a wider review, to tell you the truth. But that's how "mystery" works these days, no matter if you love or hate it...

"The real deal is that a combined effort of creating art negates the importance of who’s in the band. The band is the medium through which our art and ideology is conveyed. Thus we are musicians not journalists or public seminar speakers. But considering the limited promotion that we have, we’ve recently been considering more interviews as of late since it may expose more listeners to our craft that may never hear of us otherwise...

Harvest Gulgaltha is a facet for just one outlet of our collective philosophy. That there is a sort of acausal force. Through certain disciplines that force can be wielded. The gateway to such power is death".

"Amor Fati Productions" is a respectable label from Germany, releasing qualitable and interesting stuff. And yeah, they have been distributing "Forgotten Path" for some time as well! And though it's more difficult to interview labels, still we managed to get something more than simple information through the interview with Marius, the man behind "Amor Fati":

"I am no missionary, everyone has to find his own path he wants to walk in his life. The label is a product of my self-fulfilment, but I have no particular message I want to spread. The name says a lot about my own ideology that is strongly inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche and Max Stirner. The two words “Amor Fati” perfectly summarize it.

On the other side, I have the highest respect for labels that have chosen another way like “Scythe of Death” or “The Sinister Flame”, but they also limit themselves with this approach, and that was something I completely wanted to avoid from the very beginning.

It is very welcome to find-out to be on a similar personal or ideological level, but I don’t search for it. The most interesting people I know are the ones with a different ideology. It is important that they have a profound one and that they are open for discussions. It is also nice to talk with people who share the same values and opinions, but this could also be boring and doesn’t bring you any further in your personal development.

We are talking about every detail that is related to the release and this also includes business stuff. There is no way to leave this out."

Wiegedood's "De Doden Hebben Het Goed II" was the best album of 2017 for me! This is not your typical Black Metal band, having no relation with the traditional Satanic view, etc. However, those guitar riffs simply killed me! Their creativity is much more earthly, dealing with daily emotions, struggles, and similar things, but shares so many BM instincts inside. We conducted the interview with the band in our latest issue, and here's the quote, which illustrates what Wiegedood is all about...

"If people lose hope when pushed into a corner, they give up and die. So it’s normal that some sort of primitive instinct kicks in and tries to instil hope and some positivity in the mind of those being ready to give up. Some people find comfort or peace in our music, it is fine, but that is not why we write these songs. We are not messengers of hope nor good news. We are not your therapist and we are not spiritual gurus who make your problems go away.

Wiegedood forces me to mentally go places where I otherwise wouldn’t end up, sometimes even only by physical pain. It offers me the chance to release so many things inside of me that otherwise would build up until something unpredictable and possibly disastrous might happen. I would very much like to keep it this way, where I can regulate my inner demons at least a little bit."
