There's a good taco bar right between the joint/vinyl and the pool stage. Try that. I stayed on the strip last year and I'm staying on the strip this year too.. so don't know much else about hard rock food.

Good to know. How bad were beer/water prices? I'm staying at the Trump so I have a bit of a walk in 104f temps to get back and forth.

Pizza Forte is good. Price is decent. If it's the same as last year beer isn't too bad at the center bar but expensive in the venues, especially the Joint. $15 for a draft is madness. Walk across the street to CVS and grab a cooler and beer/water. Some restaurants right across the street too so there's options.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm arriving a day earlier so hopefully I'll stroll around a bit first and figure out where to get what etc.

There's a Goose Island bar inside the Hard Rock that had some decent beers last year. Was getting 2 for ones on the IPAs for 6-7 dollars and you were able to carry them around, but not inside the main venue.

directly across from the hard rock is a checkers, poke style restaurant, papaya king (grey papayas spin off), teriyaki madness, dunkin donuts, subway, and best of all a liquor store. diagonal from the hardrock is a hoffbrau house.

if you got time here are these places.

taco y taco.
2 locations, pecos and the other is on eastern in henderson.
best tacos for 2 bucks a pop that i have found in vegas.

Ace's And Ale
two locations open 24 hours a day. nellis has fewer taps but solid food. tenaya has 50 taps annd awesome food. recommend the eddie spaghetti pizza. tenaya is quite a bit away but if youre into craft you should it it up. owned by keri kelly.

khoury's fine wine and liquor
a bit out of the way in henderson (also a taco y taco location near) but a small small 5 tap bar with solid beers on rotation plus an amazing craft selection. if you want craft for the shows, this is the place to shop at.

atomic liquors
freemont downtown area bar/restaurant. last time i checked they still made crowlers of beers to go so you can snag some 32oz cans of draft only beers and drink them as you walk around. place also where they filmed joe pesci's character death in goodfellas or casino or something. smack dab in the middle of evel pie and 11th street records.

Lee's Liquors
stay away from this place if you want anything other than liquor. good deals on liquor. horrible beer management. you'll end up buying a 3 year old ipa.

backstage bar
i think this is what this place is called. if you want to get a good pregame. this place is 24 hours. its a hole in the wall where you can snag a pbr for 2 bucks and patron shots for 3.00. its located on the corner of flamingo and koval. by the italian restaurant called bautistas. good place to sit drink and gamble without being hassled.

evel pie.
if you make your way down to fremont they are open to 4;20 on the weekends. good selection of beers and i recommend a slice of of the rattlesnake sausage pizza. want it on the cheap? 5 bucks for a slice of cheese pizza and a pbr. also really decked out in evel kinivel stuff if you like that dude.

record stores
zia is on eastern and tropicana and another on arville and sahara. these are the big name record stores. so they sell other junk plus cds and dvds. unless you want to over pay for new sealed releases, check out the used cause thats the only reason people go. they sometimes fuck up (i bought assuck - misery index for 8 dollars) or dont know about more obscure things.

record city
located on shara and paradise has a good random collection of stuff. just have to dig. some metal but its more random finds than anything.

11th street.
downtown. newer shop and its located down the street from evel pie and you get to cross atomic liquors.

Pancho's Vegan Taco Shop. if you want 100% vegan stuff

hope this helps people

So it's legal to drink in public in Vegas? That's good news to me. Since HRH don't allow any outside food/drink even when you're staying at the hotel. If I end up buying anything outside I'll probably have to finish it before going back in.

If you go to eat across the street from the hard rock and choose subway instead of capriottis, you deserve to be shot and buried in the desert...

As for taco joints, las famosas de jose on twain and palos verdes, about a mile from the hr is the best by far in the area.. if your feeling brave enough to visit the neighborhood..

I'll try that place out. If I want tacos in that area I usually buy it on Saturday or Sunday from the lady on Cambridge that sells shit all home made in her front of her apartment. Sunday she makes menudo ha.

You can drink anywhere in town if you are discreet. Just the strip and Fremont you can walk around like nothing. Just no bottles.

I see, thanks for the info. I'll bring my thermo cup to keep the beers cold and discreet haha.

I don't think I'll drink much during the fest but I'm staying 2 more days afterwards. Having a beer while browsing around definitely sounds better than being stuck at a bar.

I'm going to be struggling to stay up for Gost.

How is the recreational marijuana scene now? I understand the dispensaries are already fully operational? I haven't smoked in years but figured I'll look into getting some edibles on this trip.

Wish this hadn't moved from Southern California. Psycho California in 2015 was amazing, but it's a lot harder to make it up when I can't commute. Psycho promised that they'd throw the SoCal area a bone to make up for the move but still hasn't Sad

Damn. I must've been looking at an old lineup. None of the previous mentioned bands were on the one I saw. Sounds solid.
