Yeah...really a pity.
Anyway, Gerald is still playing with the tribute band, so it's not hard to talk with him about the band. |

Yet there's some more worthy material from early 90's DM polish bands: ARMAGEDDON Invisible Circle LP (intended to be out on Peaceville as 2nd polish major label Deathmetal band from teh eastblock back in 1992 beside VADER) and Dead Condemnation MC, BETRAYER Necronomical Exmortis MC, SLASHING DEATH Kill Me Coz I Cant Stop MC etc...Those bands hovever were the second wave of extreme metal fueled by DM hype, and MAGNUS were important as actually the only extreme band (...beside milder KAT, TURBO to have been recognized by mainstream business in Poland. They managed to get out of the underground where (looking from the official perspective) VADER stuck and forged their international career - which was invisible to the authorities, and they managed to release their debut Scarlet Slaughterer in total opposition to the underground ethos - via MC label specializing in christmass song compilations and ethno-music.....in the end they had massive response in Poland and none outside.
Been listening to "S.S." just now, and YK I might have gone too enthusiatic masturbation over it's relevances to KAT 666 - well, KAT palys on variation and technical skills derived from heavy metal whereas MAGNUS is straight forward violence at the level comparable to any bit more obscure deaththrash latino b-class band from the time. "The Gods Of Crime" demo/ " I Was Watching My Death" LP is far better technically but less unclean in THE ONLY DESIRED way.

It's obscure releases like this that keep me going after all the years. Keep'em coming! _________________ Into the Menstrual Night We Go-o, Hey-Ho, Hey-Ho...

Yep, Dawid is a nice boy I still owe him a copy of Black Shepperds "Kill The Priest " Demo, which has unfortunately vanished somewhere in time, maybe someone else has it out there to share, as I haven't heard it in a painful while. KILL THE PRIEST stands out as one of most evil recordings between SAD EX Magus and Blood Upon The Altar, which sadly cannot be said albut teh LP successor Immortal Aggression where all rust has shed....
KILL... KILL... THE PRIEST......... |
